Arlene B. Ivan was Coordinator of Certification and Licensure longer
than anyone can remember, including Arlene. A key member of the
Classified Support Staff in the college, her extensive knowledge
in the area of certification and licensure was of paramount importance
to faculty and students alike. Through her personal dedication, she
single-handedly conceptualized and created the first computerized
BCOE Student Licensure Data Base.
Arlene gave up a career on the stage . . . the bright lights and
the footlights . . . to come to work at YSU . . . she says it was
the best career move she ever made. She continued to do occasional
acting in the area (especially at the Youngstown Playhouse); for
all of us at YSU she was always a class act.
Following her retirement, Ms. Ivan was awarded Administrator Emeritis by action of the YSU Board
of Trustees in June of 2004.
