Jeremy Hamilton
Student Speaker
2005 Spring Commencement

 
The student speaker at the 2005 Spring Undergraduate Commencement was Jeremy Hamilton of Canfield, who received two degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.

During his first two years at YSU, Hamilton was an assistant in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. During his last two years he tutored at the Mathematics Assistance Center on campus, an experience that alowed him to explore his passon - helping others learn and appreciate the value of mathematics. His senior year, Hamilton took that passion to the classroom, completing a field experience at Fitch High School and student teaching at Poland Seminary High School.

Hamilton was a member of many honors organizations, including Pi Mu Epsilon, the national mathematics honor society. Jeremy competed in the national William Lowell Putnam mathematics examination four years, achieving a top 22 percent score his senior year. A valedictorian of Canfield High School in 2001, Hamilton was a member of the YSU Honors Program and graduated summa cum laude after his four years of study.
