"What is a scientist after all? It is a curious man looking through a keyhole, the keyhole of nature, trying to know what's going on." - Jacques Cousteau

Anthony Kilgore
2002-2003 Outstanding First-Year Teacher Award Manassas City Public Schools

Anthony Kilgore, a Boardman native and YSU graduate, received the 2002-03 Outstanding First-Year Teacher Award in the Manassas City Public Schools in Virginia. Kilgore, who completed his student teaching assignment at Austintown-Fitch High School before graduating from YSU, currently teaches 9th-grade Earth Science, 12th grade Oceanography, and 12th grade Astronomy at Osbourn High School in Manassas.

To quote Dr. Perry Pope, the principal at Osbourn High: "Tony teaches earth science with enthusiasm and energy. He recognizes the dignity and worth of his individual students. He has an innovative approach and dedication to the profession."

When contacted by email regarding this recognition, Tony wrote back: "Teaching is the best job in the world!!! I have so much fun every day I come to work. I have developed a few new methods of doing things which some of the other teachers in the building have talked to me about and are starting to implement in their classes."
