AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR QUALITY Student Chapter Fall 2002/Spring 2003 NEWSLETTER WHAT IS QUALITY? Quality is fundamental to every specific area of application. It is something that transcends the configuration of intersecting parts. Quality affects every facet of life, and if applied and administrated, can improve business, the community, and each individual person. Understanding the fundamental principles is essential to understanding quality and practicing the art of quality. Quality, as beauty, lies not just in the eyes of the beholder, but lies in the hand of the creator. Quality is not just an elective…it’s a requirement. WHAT IS ASQ? ASQ is a national organization that provides opportunities for learning, quality improvement, and exchange of knowledge by advancing individual and organizational performance. ASQ promotes an inclusive environment in principle and in practice that maximizes the individual and organizational opportunity, responsibility, and potential of its members, volunteer leaders, staff, and other stakeholders. ASQ membership gives you access to the up-to-date information and professional contacts that will give you the inside track to your chosen profession. You can jumpstart your career through benefits such as publications, quality-related products, courses, conferences, and networking with people in your field. Quality is everyone’s objective and ASQ satisfies that entire spectrum.
