YSU requires students living on campus to carry health insurance and recommends that all students have insurance coverage. Youngstown State University is pleased to offer an Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan underwritten by UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company. Students may choose the UnitedHealthcare Insurance described in the links below, may have coverage with their parent’s plan, or may purchase health insurance coverage from another provider or carrier.

The insurance described in the linked documents is not for international students. For more information on insurance for international students contact the Center for International Studies and Programs at 330-941-2336.

Current YSU students do not need health insurance to use the services at the Student Health Clinic.

All registered undergraduate students taking 9 or more credit hours are eligible to enroll in the plan on a voluntary basis. All registered graduate students taking 6 or more credit hours are eligible to enroll in this insurance plan.
