FrontPage Learning Site

Congratulations! You're ready to begin constructing your own Web site using an easy, WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) software product called FrontPage. If you have never constructed a Web site before, rest easy--this instructional site is just what you need to get you on the road to creating well-planned, beautifully designed sites in very little time, and publishing them to the Internet on your own.

This site has been constructed for my English 3743 Technical Communication students. I may occasionally grant access to others who are interested in learning how to use FrontPage.

How do I create a Web site? Follow the link above to "Creating Your Web" to begin the process.

How do I put stuff into my Web? After you create an empty Web, you need to add content. Follow the link above to "Adding Content."

How do I put all these fancy graphics and colors into my Web? Want your site to look as though you planned it this way? Try adding a theme and some cool HTML elements, such as hover buttons or scrolling marquees. Follow the link above to "Using Design Elements."

What other cool stuff can FrontPage do? When you're ready to experiment with more advanced elements, follow the "Advanced Techniques" link above.

OK, I created a Web. Now what? You're going to publish it to the Internet, so billions of people all over the world can access it and share your information! Here at YSU, each student and staff member is entitled to a free Unix account. You will use that account to publish your Web; follow the "Publishing Your Web" link for detailed instructions.

Have Fun!

Disclaimer: I am not being paid by anyone to use or endorse this product. Because YSU has a licensing agreement with Microsoft, our PW&E labs are equipped with FrontPage; therefore, it is easier for me to use FrontPage in the classroom than it is for me to ask students to download or buy other software products. I believe FrontPage has numerous advantages over, say, Netscape Composer (which, of course, is free); it has drawbacks, too.

Disclaimer, Part Deux: This FrontPage instructional Web site is not affiliated with the YSU workshops run by Donna Wainio, nor do I wish to purport that it is as complete a source as her workshops. For in-depth FrontPage coverage, YSU employees can attend one of Donna's informative sessions. Because students do not have access to those workshops, however, this site seemed a logical and necessary project for me.

Copyright information: This site was created using Microsoft FrontPage 2000. Holly Wells (that's me) did all the brainwork and typing, so all content, other than Microsoft-owned graphics, is mine. If you're going to use this site, you agree not to steal my materials. Hey, I worked my tail off on this stuff!

You are visitor #Hit Counter . Thanks for dropping by, and I hope this site has been helpful to you.
