Summer Honors Institute

Youngstown State University's Summer Honors Institute provides three separate weekly non-residential programs for students who will be sophomores and juniors during the 2001-2002 school year. Eligibility in the Youngstown State University Summer Honors Institute is limited to students who have completed either ninth or tenth grade and have been formally identified as gifted or talented as defined by Ohio Administrative Code 3301-51-15.  A building principal, gifted coordinator, guidance counselor, school psychologist, or other school official who can verify test/instrumentation data must also recommend the student.  The signature of the authorized school official certifies this determination. Admission to the program is competitive.

Youngstown State University's Summer Honors Institute is funded and supported by the State of Ohio.  There is no charge incurred by the student.  The three weekly sessions are scheduled during the last three weeks in July.  Students are asked to select one of these three weeks (Session I-- July 9-13; Session II--July 16-20; Session III--July 23-27, 2001) to attend the Institute.  The Youngstown State University Summer Honors Institute is directed by Marianne K.
