Idora park's first Roller coaster was a Figure 8 Toboggan Slide constructed in 1902 by the Ingersoll Company of Pittsburgh.

Idora's ballroom was built in 1910 to accommodate the large crowds that had outgrown the original dance pavilion (which eventually became Heidelberg Gardens).

When the ballroom was built, the trolley line was extended south along the western boundary of the park. Passengers disembarked in front of the ballroom where the trolley made a loop/

The inside of the trolley loop was landscaped with a pond and flowers.

This photo, taken July 4, 1916, shows the open-air sides of the ballroom and the striped awnings that could be lowered to shield patrons from sun or rain.  Note the formal dress of the Idora visitors.

The Idora midway circa 1912.  The merry-go-round is at the right, and the coaster is in the background.  In the center is the photographer's gallery with a large glass skylight.

The Idora ballroom was used for roller skating as well as dancing.

 Idora's swimming pool was built in 1924. Swimming ended in 1948, and the area was remodeled into Kiddieland, which opened in 1951.

The Old Mill with its waterfall was a showpiece of the midway.  Boats from the Rapids splashed down in front of the waterfall at the end of the ride.

 

 

The Idora Ballroom continued to host events for two years after Idora Park closed, but after 1986 it stood vacant and unused.  On March 5, 2001, a fire of undetermined origin destroyed the structure.
